How to code more in the same amount of time

How to code more in the same amount of time

Sometimes our work can feel like a rollercoaster. Bugs pop up, new tasks land on our desk, there's coding, meetings and project planning.

It can be easy to feel overwhelmed and simply not have enough time to get everything done.

However, if you learn to manage our time well, you can get more done during the day, feel more organised, and even have more leisure time.

It's about working smarter, not harder!

Here are some tips to make you a breakthrough developer.

Set Clear Goals

Start by setting specific goals for yourself. Break down larger goals into smaller, achievable tasks. Clear goals provide direction and help you prioritize your efforts.

Prioritize Your Tasks

Prioritization is essential to effective time management. Use techniques like the Eisenhower Matrix (organizing tasks by importance and urgency) or the 80/20 Rule (focusing on the 20% of tasks with the highest impact) to determine which tasks to tackle first.

Create a Schedule

Plan your week ahead. Block out time for specific tasks and stick to those commitments. This helps you focus on one task at a time and prevents task switching, which can decrease productivity.

Use Time-Blocking

Time-blocking involves dividing your day into blocks of time dedicated to specific tasks or themes. This technique helps you stay focused and prevents less urgent tasks from creeping into your schedule.

Learn to Say No

It’s okay to turn down additional tasks or meetings if they don't fit your priorities or if you're already too busy. Offer alternative solutions or suggest a different schedule.

Minimize Distractions

Turn off notifications, close unnecessary tabs, and use focus modes or productivity apps to help you stay on task.

Email Efficiency

Set specific times to check and respond to emails, instead of responding to each notification. Keep emails concise and clear, and use bullet points to make them easy to read.

Managing your time well is a skill that takes practice. Start small by trying out a few of these ideas and see what works for you. Remember, by taking control of your time, you'll not only improve your productivity but also your overall well-being.

Happy coding and efficient time management!

Cheers,
